Beech class is part of the post-16 department.


In Post 16, we aim to facilitate the building and development of existing and new skills within real-life contexts to enable our students to prepare for the next stage in their lives.  Where appropriate, students work towards a variety of suitable accreditations including ASDAN Towards Independence, ASDAN Personal Progress. Some pupils also have opportunities to complete entry level units in English and Mathematics.


Beech class are following the Merefield Informal Curriculum Pathway. This covers six different curriculum areas: My Communication,  My ThinkingMy Emotional WellbeingMy Physical DevelopmentMy Community and How My World Works.


Throughout the year, all students will be working towards individual targets based on Quest, PIVATS, Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP), ASDAN, Independent living skills and Blank level questioning.


Beech class will be working towards achieving credits in ASDAN Personal Progress Engaging with the world sensory story - . Personal Progress engaging with the world: Objects and Personal Progress engaging with the world: Developing a profile. The work done towards these credits will be carried out within our everyday sessions.


  • Music Therapy is on Wednesday 
  • Sensory Cooking is on Friday
  • Swimming kit is required on a Thursday – Please ensure you send this is in as we are very limited on spares in school.
  • We request a contribution of £2 per week to go towards purchasing sensory cooking items. Any money should be sent into school in a clearly labelled envelope and can be paid on a half termly basis.
  • Remember you can chat to us via Class Dojo. We shall do the same on a daily basis, keeping you up-to-date on what your son or daughter has been doing throughout the day and passing on any important information.
