At Merefield School we able to offer pupils the Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE), this award is made up of the Bronze, Silver and Gold award. The award is designed for pupil aged 13 to 25 years. Each award has several sub sections in which pupils have to complete this includes; Voluntary, Skill, Physical and an Expedition. These categories have to be completed for a period of time depending on the award level. This year we have pupils completing both the bronze and silver award, currently working towards the expedition phase which we hope to carry out in the final half term. Jenni is our trained expedition leader and assessor, Jo is our coordinator and expedition assessor.
We have just returned from our 2019 Bronze assessed expedition and a Silver practice expedition. The group have explored the Clywidian range including a walk to the highest point of Moel Famau. Along the way they met cows, calves, sheep, horses, rabbits and many other young people completed similar routes. Congratulations to the Bronze group, who have now completed all parts of their Bronze award. The Silver group just need to complete their assessed expedition in a few times and they will also complete their award. Fantastic achievement for everyone!
