Morning 1 – Maths

This morning I have set you all an individual challenge on a website we all know and love – Busy Things!  I well send your grown-ups the information as to how to find your individual task to their inbox on Class Dojo.

We have a parent login for Busy Things so please feel free to make use of all of the amazing resources on here:

Morning 2 – English

Background for grown-ups….

Colourful semantics is a tool we use in school to support sentence composition and teaches them about sentence building and structure thus supporting speech and language.

What is the idea behind colourful semantics? The approach teaches a child the different parts of a sentence by giving each one a colour and an associated question prompt. The main parts of a sentence taught are: Question Cue

  • Colour Who? Orange
  • What doing? Yellow
  • What? Green
  • Where? Blue

So, an example sentence might look like this:

I have attached several pictures for you to talk about with your grown-ups.  Can you:

  • Answer a who/what/what are they doing/where question correctly?
  • Can you show your grown up how you can describe the picture using colourful semantics?  Perhaps you could point to the correct symbols on the screen or if you have a printer then you could circle them or mark make over the top?

Afternoon

Challenge afternoon!

Let’s have some fun and develop our fine motor skills, gross motor skills and coordination all at the same time!

Watch this video and have a go at the challenges…you only need things that are around the home:

Here is an ALI board to help you communicate what you are thinking and feeling through the activity:

I would love to see a video of you having a go at the challenge - you can upload this to your child’s portfolio on Dojo.

Have a great day and I can’t wait to hear how you get on with today’s tasks.

Missing you all!
