The weather may be terrible outside but here in school everything is warm and cosy and everyone is looking forward to another very busy day! This week has seen school share in Rememberance Day with some beautiful poppy pictures created and yesterday we had a very special visitor in Pudsey Bear! All week has been National Cinema Week and as such many of our pupils have visited the local cinema and had a great time experiencing a cinema visit with their friends. Looking forward there is our annual Upper School residential to Calvert Trust in the Lake District coming up in a couple of weeks and of course then it will be December!

As you all know we are working in partnership with Southport Sainsbury's this year and looking to raise funds for a new adventure playground - we have a wonderful opportunity coming up of being able to bag pack on the weekend of Saturday December 12th and Sunday December 13th - letters will be sent home asking for as many volunteers as possible to join us at a designated slot in order to maximise our earning potential! Please do help - not only will you be helping to raise funds it is a very enjoyable experience where all members of the school community can work together.

As you are all aware in September 2014 we introduced our own Merefield Curriculum which is a life skilled based curriculum encompassing the holistic development of every pupil within school. Myself, the rest of the Senior Leadership Team and the Governors have been delighted with the hard work and dedication that all staff members have shown to develop the various curriculum pathways in personal response to the needs of each pupil in each class. The introduction of EHC Plans has resulted in Educational Outcomes being identified for pupils which are completely in line with our curriculum plans. Over the course of the past 12 months I have been asked to share our curriculum with other special schools throughout the North West and I am delighted that the reputation of Merefield is so highly recommended.

Another date for your diary is Saturday November 28th when the Parents/FOMS are holding a fund raising auction at St Johns Community Center - more details and tickets  available at school. There are various interesting items up for auction involving members of staff - you never know who will be coming to do your gardening!! Again all funds raised will be for the redevelopment of the playground!

See you on the 28th!!

Sue
